2026 PCGS MS-70 First Strike 1 oz George Washington Silver Coin: Commander Series
The Commander Series pays tribute to legendary historical figures who played pivotal roles as leaders throughout history. Previous releases included Napoleon Bonaparte, General Patton, Hernán Cortés, Emperor Julius Caesar, Ulysses S. Grant, and Charlemagne.
Now, the collection honors its latest figure, George Washington, as the first Commander release struck in the much-requested 1 oz Silver size! A limited population of only 500 1 oz Silver coins are being offered graded MS-70 First Strike by PCGS in the exclusive Washington Commander Label.
As we approach one of the most important milestones in American history—the 250th Anniversary of American Independence—the Scottsdale Mint proudly unveils the most highly anticipated addition to the Commander Series: General George Washington. To honor this momentous release, each coin features the first and only Privy Mark ever used in the series: a striking Liberty Bell engraved with a bold “250,” officially designated as the Freedom Privy. This powerful symbol elevates the coin into a true collector’s piece, commemorating both a legendary leader and a once-in-a-lifetime patriotic celebration.
George Washington stands as one of the greatest figures in American history — a brilliant commander, fearless leader, and the steady hand that guided a nation’s birth. From his bold victory at Trenton, where he crossed the icy Delaware River to strike a decisive blow on Christmas of 1776, to the pivotal triumph at Yorktown that secured America’s independence, Washington proved time and again that he possessed unmatched courage and strategic genius. As the nation’s first president, he set the gold standard for leadership, integrity, and vision. The George Washington Commander release celebrates not just a founding father, but a legendary hero whose strength, honor, and unwavering resolve shaped the United States itself.
Struck in .9999 fine silver and preserved in PCGS’s highest grade, this Proof-like 1 oz Washington coin combines historical reverence with collector-grade excellence. Each coin has been certified by PCGS as MS-70, and exhibits flawless proof-like details and is superbly struck. It also carries the First Strike designation, confirming it was submitted for grading within the first 30 days of its official release.
For the first time with any Commander release, the Washington coins are certified by PCGS with a custom Commander label displaying the famous painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware river. There is a strictly limited population of only 500 1 oz Silver coins graded MS-70 First Strike in the Washington Label.
Available at SD Bullion, this 1 oz Washington coin offers a powerful blend of bullion value, historical significance, and museum-quality preservation.

The Design
The obverse shows George Washington wearing a tricorne hat. During the Revolutionary War, he required officers to wear cockades on their hats to help identify rank, since the Continental Army had no standard uniforms. His portrait is accompanied by the inscriptions “WASHINGTON” and “2026.”
The reverse imprints the Coat of Arms of Samoa and the coin’s monetary denomination, purity, metal content, and weight through the engravings “TWO DOLLARS,” “9999 FINE SILVER - 1 TROY OZ.”
A PCGS MS-70 First Strike Coin
PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, authenticates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale from 1 to 70. An MS-70 grade identifies a perfect Mint State coin, while First Strike signifies that the coin was received by PCGS within their specified early-release timeframe.
