The Design

The reverse features a regal Lion portrayed in a classic heraldic style and facing directly toward the viewer. Struck in Extraordinarily High Relief (EHR) with a remarkable peak height of 4.3 mm, the design gives the majestic figure exceptional depth.

Encircling the lion is a sculpted wreath rendered in Ultra High Relief, composed of the floral emblems found in the Canadian Coat of Arms: the Tudor rose of England, the Scottish thistle, the Irish shamrock, the French lily, and Canada's iconic maple leaf, enhanced by seed pods, flower buds, and maple keys.

The obverse bears the official effigy of King Charles III, accompanied by the inscriptions "CHARLES III" and "D.G. REX," an abbreviation of the Latin phrase Dei Gratia Rex, meaning "By the Grace of God, King."

A finely engraved woodgrain texture extends across both the obverse and reverse, adding visual depth while symbolizing Canada's rich natural landscapes, tying the design elements together with the forests and wildlife that have long inspired the nation's iconic emblems.

Because it is a proof coin, it showcases mirror-like surfaces that beautifully contrast with its frosted design elements.
