An NGC PF-70 Coin
NGC, which stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company, operates independently of sovereign mints, evaluating and grading coins. Utilizing the Sheldon Scale, a grading system from 1 to 70, they meticulously assess coins based on their condition.
To NGC, a “First Day of Issue” is a coin purchased from its original mint on the first day it was made publicly available and submitted to its appraisal.
PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
