2025-W NGC PF-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz American Palladium Eagle Reverse Proof Coin
Introduced in 2017, the American Palladium Eagles expanded the U.S. Mint’s renowned American Eagle Program with a distinctive addition.
The palladium coins of the series are struck with 1 Troy oz of .9995 fine palladium. They carry iconic national symbolism, most notably the Winged Liberty design, originally seen on the classic Mercury Dime.
These coins, in particular, are reverse-proof coins, crafted in the West Point Mint and bearing the “W” mint mark. In addition, they are among those purchased on the first day of their official release and submitted to NGC appraisal.
Today, you can purchase 2025-W 1 oz American Palladium Eagle Proof Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as a PF-70 coin.

The Design
The obverse depicts Adolph A. Weinman's “Winged Liberty,” originally designed on the Mercury Dime.
The design portrays Lady Liberty’s left profile wearing a winged Phrygian cap. It also displays the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the artist's initials, the year of mintage, and the “W” mint mark from the West Point branch.
Inspired by the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal, the reverse was also signed by Weinman.
It features a Bald Eagle perched on a cliff edge, holding a branch. Additional inscriptions read “UNITED STATES of AMERICA,” the coin’s face value “$25,” the weight and purity “1 OZ Pd .9995 FINE,” and the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
An NGC PF-70 “First Day of Issue” Coin
Third-party services, such as NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company), use the Sheldon Scale as a parameter to appraise and grade coins.
NGC considers a “First Day of Issue” coin to be one purchased from its original mint on the first day of its release and submitted to NGC appraisal.
The initials "PF" stand for "Proof Coin," indicating a coin produced for collection purposes. Because it is a reverse-proof coin, the background surfaces are matte, contrasting with the brilliant images engraved. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
