2024-W NCG MS-70 First Day Of Issue 1 oz American Gold Eagle Burnished Coin – Exclusive Reagan Label
American Gold Eagles are 22k gold coins. The debuting coin was a one-ounce piece, but the US Mint broadened the collection by including fractional sizes and varied finishes.
President Ronald Reagan, the 40th US President, enacted both the Liberty Coin Act of 1985 and the Bullion Coin Act of 1985, laying the foundation for the production of American Eagle Coins.
Reagan passionately supported coin collecting and bullion investment, even declaring the week of April 17 as "National Coin Week" through a Presidential Proclamation during his tenure in the Oval Office.
These 2024-W US Gold Eagles are the burnished version, struck in the West Point branch, bearing the “W” mint mark. The blanks used in their minting underwent a special treatment process called burnishing, which cleans them from undesired oxides, resulting in a matte finish with more vivid design details.
Today, you can acquire SD Bullion 2024-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagles, taken among those available for purchase in the US Mint on day #1. They are certified by NGC as MS-70 coins and sealed with our exclusive NGC Ronald Reagan Facsimile Signature label.

The Design
Lady Liberty, featured on the obverse, marches forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing the nation's evolution toward progress, peace, and enlightenment.
The image is accompanied by the Capitol Building, the word “LIBERTY,” and the coin’s mintage year. The “W” mint mark is on the right.
The majestic bald eagle from the reverse design is showcased in a close-up depiction with a deep gaze and a highlighted hooked beak.
The engravings reading “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD—50 DOLLARS,” complete the image and inform weight, metal content, and face value.
Burnished Coins
A Burnished American Eagle Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than Proof American Eagles.
An NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue Coin
Like other third-party services, NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) is globally renowned for appraising coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70, apart from sovereign mints.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no sign of wear, tear, or scratching, which grants it a 70 grade.
NGC considers “First Day of Issue” a coin purchased from the US Mint on the very first day it was made publicly available.
