Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of its foundation in 2024, the Australian Perth Mint prepared a commemorative 4-Coin Silver Typeset Collection.

It consists of four limited-struck silver one-ounce coins of different finishes featuring the Perth Mint’s contemporary most famous coin collections: the Kookaburra, the Koala, and the Kangaroo.

The Perth Mint's foundation dates back to 1899 in Western Australia. During the gold rush in the country, the mint’s operations were based on refining and coining sovereign currency, which over the years benefitted the national economic development. Nowadays, the Perth Mint is responsible for producing Australia’s legal tender precious metal coins.

The Silver 125th Anniversary 4-Coin Typeset Collection is limited to 2,500 units. Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of 99.99% pure silver, exclusive displays, and a unique mint mark for the occasion, the “P125.”

The Design

The Typeset contains 4 one-ounce silver coins that share the same design.

The obverse of the coins showcases King Charles III’s portrait surrounded by the inscriptions “CHARLES III,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “1 DOLLAR.”

The reverse design showcases the motifs for the Perth Mint’s most famous coin series: the Koala, the Kangaroo, and the Kookaburra amid golden wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem. The banner at the bottom refers to the mint’s anniversary and reads: “1899 THE PERTH MINT 2024,”

All the coins are inscribed with mintage, weight, metal content, and purity as “2024 1 oz 9999 SILVER.” The Pert Mint’s 125th Anniversary is on the left, identified through the “P125” mint mark.

Their finishes are different, though. One of the coins is a traditional monochromatic bullion coin. The second is a proof coin with frosted design elements on a polished surface. The third is also a proof coin, but the animals are colored with their natural tones. Lastly, the fourth coin is a gilded sample, with the animals colored in 24k gold.
