The Design

The 2024 reverse brings a brand-new design of the Dragon. It has a full-body depiction, with a twisted body and sharp claws, surrounded by smoke and waves. Accompanying the design is the Chinese character for “DRAGON”, the inscription “DRAGON 2024” and “P125,” referring to the Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.

The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II stamped on the obverse is the one created by artist Jody Clark in 1995. 

The engravings that complete the design inform Her Majesty’s name and reign, the coin’s weight, metal content, purity, origin, and face value through “ELIZABETH II,” “1952-2022,” “AUSTRALIA,” “1 oz 9995 Pt”, and “100 DOLLARS.”

Because it is a proof coin, its surface exhibits a mirror-like luster with frosted design elements.
