The Design

The reverse design, which names the coins, results from the joint effort of Chief Engraver Gordon Summers from the Royal Mint and Chief Engraver Joseph Menna from the US Mint.

In the image, Britannia and Liberty are depicted through a right-profile closeup, with heads in opposing orientations.

Britannia wears a Corinthian helmet and carries a trident, while Lady Liberty carries a torch and has free-flowing hair adorned with stars.

On the border, read the inscriptions “BRITANNIA AND LIBERTY” on top and “2024” “1 OZ 9999 FINE GOLD” at the bottom, which inform the coin’s issuance, weight, fineness, and metal content.

The effigy of King Charles III portrayed on the obverse is the same used in Britannia coins, designed by Martin Jennings. 

His Majesty’s left-profile bust is encircled by “CHARLES III,” the initials “D.G.REX.F.D,” which in Latin means “By the grace of God, King,” and “100 POUNDS,” for face value.
