The Quokka is a native marsupial usually found in the southwest region of Western Australia. It is the size of a domestic pet, is highly sociable, and has a cute smile.

At each annual strike, the 1 Troy oz silver coins from the Australian Quokka Series feature an original depiction of this lovely animal.

Coin Highlights

The Design

The obverse portrays Dan Thorne’s design for King Charles III, surrounded by the inscriptions “CHARLES III,” “AUSTRALIA,” “2024,” “1 DOLLAR,” and “1 oz 9999 Ag,” which describe the coin’s legal tender, year of issuance, face value, weight, purity, and metal content.

The reverse depicts a "happy family" of quokkas set against a beachside scene, complete with a lighthouse and vegetation representing their home on Rottnest Island. It also contains the inscription ‘QUOKKA’ and the “P125” mint mark indicating the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint.
