The Design
The obverse design consists of Martin Jenning’s portrait of King Charles III. The inscriptions surrounding the image are His Majesty’s name, “CHARLES,” the coin’s face value of “10 POUNDS,” and the letters “D. G. REX. F. D” standing for “By the grace of God, King” in Latin.
Philip Nathan signs the Britannia reverse design, which displays the nation through a feminine character who carries the Union Jack Shield and trident. The information engraved on the outer rim refers to the coin’s series “BRITANNIA,” issuance “2024”, weight “1/10 oz,” purity “999.9,” and metal content “FINE GOLD.”
Security Features
Since the 2021 edition, Britannia coins have new security features on their reverse side.
The waves imprinted as a background pattern got texture motion making waves move the coin. The same happens to the trident in focus on the lower left, which turns into a padlock as the angle changes.
The Union Jack Shield got tincture lines highlighting the national flag, and micro-text “Decus et Tutamen,” meaning “an ornament and a safeguard,” engraved around Britannia’s depiction complete the security settings.
