The Germania Mint releases another strike of its traditional Germania Series in 2023. 

The Germania collection stands out from other silver rounds because, though not legal tender, these rounds carry the fantasy face value of 5 marks, the former currency of Germany before the introduction of the Euro in 2002. 

At every annual strike, each round in the series showcases a new design from Lady Germania.

The 2023 1 oz Germania Silver round weighs 1 Troy oz of 99.99% pure silver and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Design

The obverse showcases Lady Germania walking into an unknown rocky land with her two-headed flying Eagle. 

Germania is a national feminine personification, usually depicted as a robust woman with long, flowing hair, wearing armor and carrying a medieval shield and an imperial sword called Reichsschwert.

The inscriptions encircling the image describe weight, metal content, purity, the series name, and year of issuance. They read: “1 oz Ag 999.9” and “GERMANIA 2023.”

The reverse design displays the Germania Mint Coat of Arms, which consists of a two-headed eagle surrounded by laurels holding lightning bolts. It also contains the “5 MARKS” engravings on top and “GERMANIA” at the bottom.
