The Design

This product follows the same patterns established in the Gold Maple Leaf series. Despite being tiny, the gram-coin surfaces delicately showcase Queen Elizabeth II and the Maple Leaf.

Her Majesty’s effigy is the one created by Susanna Blunt. In the portrait, Elizabeth II has a simple, elegant, and mature depiction. Her name is on the upper rim, the coin’s face value and the year of issuance are on the bottom. On the lower left, read the year of the beginning and ending of her long Reign as a British Monarch.

The Maple Leaf design is signed by Master Engraver Walter Ott. It stamps the reverse side, with “CANADA” arching over it and the coin’s data regarding weight, fineness, and metal content surrounding the outer rim. The inscriptions are in English and French: “9999,” “FINE GOLD,” “1g,” “OR PUR,” and “9999”.
