Buy 2022 1 oz PCGS MS-70 First Strike American Gold Eagle Coin Online
The US Mint produces the MS-70 First Strike American Gold Eagles, and sends them to the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) who assigns their perfect MS-70 rating to these coins. Since 1985, PCGS has been in the grading market, and they evaluate both US coins and international coins. PCGS has different strategies to guard against counterfeits that they implement into their plastic slabs. For each slab, they use their holographic labels, markings inside the holder, and their own special serial number.
For an indication of just how rare an MS-70 rating is, only 8,911 of the 228,500 one oz Gold Eagles minted in 2017 were certified as MS-70. This means that, as these coins are, only 3.90 percent of all Gold Eagles minted in 2017 is known to be flawless. 'First Strike' means that PCGS earned the coins within the first 30 days of the release date of the coin.
The obverse of these gold eagle coin features Lady Liberty confidently striding forward with a torch in her left hand and an olive branch in her right. The US Capitol Building can be seen behind her, and the circumference of the coin is filled with 6-pointed stars. 2022 will be minted to the right of her, with the word “LIBERTY” minted at the very top of the coin.
The new reverse design was announced in October of 2020 and wass implemented in the second half of 2021. It was created by artist Jennie Norris, and sculpted by the US Mint medallic artist Renata Gordon. It is composed of a simple, yet highly detailed, portrait of a bald eagle’s head, intensely staring ahead. In the artist’s own words, this earnest gaze represents the “pride and wisdom passed down through generations of time”. Both inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” have been relocated to the top of the design, above the eagle’s head. The words on the outline remain the same, but are now separated by 5-pointed stars.
