Independence is the first design issued in the 10 oz silver round of the series in 2021. It is inspired by the Revolution's ideal of making the Original Thirteen Colonies an independent State and the Declaration of Independence prepared by Thomas Jefferson that embedded this purpose.

The Design

The effigy of the 3rd American President and one of the Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, is showcased on the obverse.

The engravings “AMERICAN VIRTUES” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” arch over his bust while “THOMAS JEFFERSON” and the year of issuance in Roman numbers “MMXXI” are at the bottom. A discreet inscription of mintmark, weight, metal content, and purity is micro-engraved aside and read: “CFL 10 oz Ag .999.”

This side also contains Jefferson’s famous quote, “NEVER TROUBLE ANOTHER FOR WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF,” engraved on the outer rim.

Lady Liberty got a modern depiction on the reverse side, as she walks the road of independence, carrying a torch and an olive branch, accompanied by a flying eagle. A pre-9/11 image of New York lies on the lower left.
