2019 NGC MS-69 PL First Releases 5 oz America The Beautiful Lowell Historical Park Silver Coin

The US Mint issued the America The Beautiful Quarter Program, paying homage to America’s natural and historical values.

The first strike of America The Beautiful quarter-dollar coins dates back to 2010, but the program crafted 56 alluring silver coins until 2021.

The Lowell Historical Park Silver Coin was the first strike of the 2019 edition and the 46th overall in the series.

Lowell National Historical Park preserves the history of Lowell, MA, during the Industrial Revolution, focusing on industry processes, cultural environment, and the role of "Mill Girls." These young women, who worked in the mills and lived in company-owned boarding houses, advocated for better working conditions, supported abolition, and embraced education.

SD Bullion offers 2019 5 oz America The Beautiful Lowell Historical Park Silver Coins in a proof-like appearance. They were purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of their official release and graded by NGC as MS-69 PL First Releases coins.

The Design

The obverse features George Washington's effigy, designed by John Flanagan in 1932. It is an inspired version of the former President’s official portrayal illustrated by William Cousins in 1786.

It also contains the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The reverse displays a mill girl working at a power loom with its prominent circular bobbin battery, with the Boott Mill clock tower through the window.

Inscriptions on this side read “LOWELL,” “MASSACHUSETTS,” “2019,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

An NGC MS-69 PL “First Releases” Coin

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70 based on their condition.

For NGC, “First Releases” refer to coins purchased from the original mint within the first 30 days of their official release and taken to its appraisal.

MS stands for Mint State. Mint State coins are shaped as business coins. Grade 69 is attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.

PL refers to a Proof-like finish, describing coins that exhibit mirrored fields that resemble Proof coins but are actually bullion coins.
