Honoring the beautiful state of Minnesota this time around, the United States Mint has revealed the next release under the America the Beautiful Coin Program this year -- the 2018 5 oz Voyageurs ATB Silver Quarters. With 4 lakes and rocks dating back to a couple of billion years, the Voyageurs National Park is a site where Minnesota's natural beauty and history can be experienced.

The America the Beautiful Coin Series was launched to celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the United States. From National Parks to National Lakeshores, the US Mint chooses one beautiful site from 5 chosen states or territories every year. The 2018 America the Beautiful Coins are set to honor Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Minnesota, and Rhode Island.

Each of these coins contains 5 troy ounces of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they are recognized as legal tender with face values of Quarter Dollars.

The obverses feature the familiar portrayal of George Washington designed by John Flanagan. Since these coins are considered legal tender, this side mimics the circulating quarter dollar coins.

On the other hand, the reverses depict an elegant scene from the Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota -- serene, beautiful, and peaceful as ever. This National Park honors 'Voyageurs,' the French-Canadian fur traders who were the first settlers to explore the wilderness.
