The Theodore Roosevelt Silver Coin is the fourth strike of the 2016 edition and the 34th in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

Theodore Roosevelt is acknowledged as the founder of the National Parks System and the pioneer in creating protected areas designated as National Parks. Established in 1946, Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota commemorates his contributions.

The Design

The obverse features George Washington's effigy, designed by John Flanagan in 1932. It is an inspired version of the former President’s official portrayal illustrated by William Cousins in 1786.

It also contains the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The reverse showcases Theodore Roosevelt on horseback with the Little Missouri River,  also known as the "Rough Rider," serving as a backdrop. The inscriptions accompanying the image read “THEODORE ROOSEVELT,” “NORTH DAKOTA,” “2016,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
