The Scottsdale Mint is a domestic private mint renowned for its varied collection themes and alluring designs.
This series comprises only 2 Troy oz coins of 99.9% pure silver. Each strike features an iconic scene found within the Bible, hence the series moniker, and in a limited edition of 1,499 units.
The Good Samaritan is one of the silver bullion coins of the series produced in 2016, and it is available now for purchase at SD Bullion.
Coin Highlights
- Contains 2 oz of .999 fine silver;
- Antique-proof finish;
- Produced by the Scottsdale Mint;
- Limited Edition of 1,499 units;
- Holds a face value of $2, guaranteed by the Niue Government;
- The obverse features a crowned Queen Elizabeth II, portrayed by Raphael Maklouf;
- The reverse depicts the “The Good Samaritan” scene;
- Housed in a thematic display case with a COA.
The Design
The obverse features an elegant Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy through the eyes of Raphael Maklouf. Surrounding Her Majesty’s bust, the inscriptions list the coin's information. They read: “QUEEN ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE TWO DOLLARS,” “2016”, and “2 OZ 999 FINE SILVER,” referring to Her Majesty’s name, the nation which ensures the coin’s legal tender status, face value, year of issuance, weight, purity, and metal content.
The biblical scene reflected on the reverse side is the parable of The Good Samaritan.
The image showcases a Samaritan, someone disliked because of his origin in the time of Jesus. He shows mercy to an injured man by carrying him in his horse and providing for his recovery.
The coin’s name, “THE GOOD SAMARITAN,” is engraved at the bottom rim, on the right.
The absence of limiting rims in these coins allows the entire usage of the surface. The antique shadow, allied with the dark luster from the proof finish, emphasizes the aspect of ancientness and highlights the most intricate design details.
The Biblical Series
The Biblical Series debuted in 2015, promising a complete series of 60 two-ounce coins. The Good Samaritan is the 10th strike of the series, released in 2016. Each reverse side showcases a famous scene described in the Bible and designed by the renowned French artist Gustave Duré.
The Packaging
Each coin is individually packed and shipped in an intriguing box consisting of an antiqued Bible and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
