2014-P NGC SP-69 Early Releases 5 oz America The Beautiful Shenandoah Burnished Silver Coin
The America The Beautiful Quarter Program comprises fifty-six quarter-dollar coins manufactured by the US Mint from 2010 to 2021.
The program used to strike five silver coins per year, each weighing 5 Troy ounces of 99.9% fine silver, with a unique reverse design with an emblematic American park, monument, or forest.
The Shenandoah Silver Coin is the second release of the 2014 edition and the 22nd overall in the series.
Shenandoah National Park is located in Virginia, 75 miles from Washington, D.C. Legislation authorized its creation in 1926, and it was officially established in 1935 and dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936. The park contains cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, and quiet wooded hollows.
These particular coins are burnished samples. They carry the “P” mint mark, indicating they were issued by the Philadelphia Mint and were purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of their official release.
SD Bullion offers 2014-P 5 oz America The Beautiful Shenandoah Burnished Silver Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as SP-69 Early Releases coins.

The reverse depicts a day hiker taking a view from the Little Stony Man summit.
The image is encircled by "SHENANDOAH," "VIRGINIA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and “2014.”
Burnished Coins
A Burnished Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than the Proof version.
An NGC SP-69 Early Releases Coin
NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) operates independently of sovereign mints, appraising and certifying coins according to the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
SP-69 stands for Specimen-69, which describes a hybrid between Mint State and Proof with nearly imperceptible imperfections.
NGC considers “Early Releases” a coin purchased from its original mint within the first 30 days of its public release.
