2014 NGC MS-70 Early Releases 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin - From Mint Sealed Box 1
The US Mint first released the American Gold Eagle Coin in 1986. The debuting coin of the series was a one-ounce sample, but the collection got wider with the inception of fractional counterparts, like the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle.
This 22-karat gold coin contains 1/2 Troy oz of actual gold content, featuring patriotic designs that embody the ideals established by the Founding Fathers.
This coin, in particular, is one of those made publicly available for purchase within the first 30 days of release, taken from the original US Mint sealed box, and then certified by NGC as MS-70 coins.
Today, you can acquire 2014 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as MS-70 at SD Bullion.

The Design
The obverse showcases Saint Gaudens’ Lady Liberty, designed to be on the $20 Double Eagle Coin. The feminine figure marches forward in the image, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing progress, light, and peace.
It also features the word “LIBERTY” engraved on top, stars representing national states, the year of issuance, and the US Capitol Building.
The reverse features Miley Busiek’s familiar scenery: a female Bald Eagle cherishes her hatchling under her wing while the male Eagle perches their nest.
The engraving “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches over the image, which is flanked by the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The coin’s weight, metal content, and face value are at the bottom and read: “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD - 25 DOLLARS.”
An NGC MS-70 Early Releases Coin
Third-party services like NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) work independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins according to the Sheldon Scale, which ranks them from 1 to 70 based on their condition.
According to the NGC, “Early Releases” refer to coins that were publicly available within the first 30 days of the US Mint's official release.
MS or Mint State is a piece with the same format as a widespread circulation coin that remained uncirculated. Grade 70 is attributed to flawless coins.
