The reverse showcases a female eagle protecting its hatchling under her wing while the male eagle perches on their nest.

The weight, metal content, and face value inscriptions read "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS." Additional information reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
