SD Bullion now offers the 2013 1 Kilo Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin!
The Australian Silver Kookaburra is Australia's longest-running bullion coin series. It launched a tradition at the Perth Mint of displaying native species from the continent on official coinage when it was first released in 1990. SD Bullion is now selling the 2013 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin.
Each 2013 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra is crafted from one kilogram of fine silver (.999). The Kookaburra, a bird native to Australia and New Guinea, is well-known for its laugh-like call. The birds can be found in Australia's woodland and desert savannahs. Stamps denoting the eagle, the coin's weight and purity, and the minting year surround this portrait.
The Design
The obverse face of these coins, like all other Australian coins, have a striking portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The letters 'IRB' stand for Ian Rank-Broadley, the artist who created this picture. The Queen's name (ELIZABETH II), the issuing country's name (AUSTRALIA), and the coin's face value all surround this image (30 DOLLARS).
The reverse sides of these coins feature an annually changing design with one constant – the unique kookaburra bird. Perth Mint’s mintmark ‘P’ can also be seen on this side – proudly boasting the coin’s source.
