The Wildlife Series issued six coins from 2012 to 2014, each with a limited strike of 1 million units. The Pronghorn Antelope, the Cougar, and the Moose are examples of wild animals portrayed in the series.

The Moose Silver Coin, released in 2012, weighs 1 Troy oz of 99.99% pure silver and is legal tender within Canada.

The moose, also known as elk, is the largest and heaviest specimen of deer. It is a terrestrial vegetarian animal, usually slow-moving and sedentary, but it can move very quickly if it feels angered or startled.

The Design

The obverse showcases Queen Elizabeth II as depicted by Susanna Blunt. The artist’s initials are discreetly engraved on the bottom of Her Majesty’s right-profile bust. 

The portrait includes the inscription “ELIZABETH II,” the coin’s face value of “5 DOLLARS,” and the year of mintage “2012.”
