The Design

The obverse showcases George Washington's effigy, designed by John Flanagan in 1932. It is an inspired version of the former President’s official portrayal illustrated by William Cousins in 1786.

The image is accompanied by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The coins' reverse design showcases a different national park, monument, or forest. In addition to the alluring imagery, the design features the state where they are settled, the year of issuance, and the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
