The Design
The American Eagle Program reproduced Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ 1907 20-dollar Double Eagle Coin design on the obverse of Gold Eagles.
Lady Liberty marches forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing the nation's progress toward peace and enlightenment.
It also displays the word “LIBERTY” on top, the Capitol Building on the lower left, and the coin’s mintage year on the right.
The reverse is Miley Busiek's creation and showcases a female eagle who cherishes its hatchling under her wing while the male one perches their nest.
The coin’s description of weight, metal content, and face value read “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD—25 DOLLARS.” It also features the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
A PCGS MS-70 First Strike Coin
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) works independently from sovereign mints to appraise and grade coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
MS-Mint State designation means that a particular coin has the same format as a business coin, which remains uncirculated. Grade 70 is attributed to flawless coins.
“First Strike” refers to coins purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of public availability.
