The 1/4 oz Gold Eagle, a fractional piece in the collection, features the iconic obverse design inspired by Saint-Gaudens' $20 Liberty Double Eagle and Miley Busiek's design on the reverse.

US Gold Eagles are struck from 22-carat gold (.9167 fineness). Their alloy contains 3% silver and 5.33% copper for added durability. Despite the alloy, they contain a full quarter ounce of pure gold.

The Design

The reverse portrays a family of Bald Eagles: a female eagle nurturing her hatchling under her wing while the male stands guard on their nest. 

The design also features the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” as well as the coin’s information of weight, metal content, and face value, which reads “1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD—10 DOLLARS.”
