1995-W NGC PF-69 UCAM 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin
The year 1995 is notable for the US Mint, as it celebrated the 10th mintage of the American Eagles Program, initiated by the Liberty Coin Act of 1985.
The program's first releases were the Gold and Silver Eagles. Soon after, in that same year, the US Mint also released the proof versions of the coins for collectors.
Proof Silver Eagle coins are composed of 99.9% fine silver and showcase the iconic designs signed by Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti, just like their bullion version. However, thanks to the proof finish, they display a distinctive mirror-like luster.
These coins, in particular, were issued in West Point, one of the US Mint branches, and carry the “W” mint mark.
SD Bullion proudly offers 1995-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof coins graded and certified by NGC as PF-69 UCAM coins.

The Design
Adolph A. Weinman designed the Walking Liberty to be on the 1917 Half-Dollar Coin. The US Mint rescued this beloved design as the obverse of Silver Eagles.
Lady Liberty strides toward the sun's rays with the American flag draped on her shoulder. She holds oak and laurel branches in one hand while stretching the other arm. It also displays the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.
John Mercanti was the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint. He created the Heraldic Eagle with the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. Thirteen pointed stars above the Eagle represent the original colonies.
The “W” mint mark from the West Point branch is on the lower left, while the inscriptions describing the face value, weight, metal content, and purity encircle the image. They read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
An NGC PF-69 UCAM Coin
In order to appraise and grade coins, third-party services like NGC—Numismatic Guaranty Company use the Sheldon Scale as a parameter.
The initials PF stand for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes. It exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. The expression “UCAM” or Ultra Cameo means this contrast is deeper and more intense than in other proof coins.
Grade 69 is given to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
