1947 NGC MS-66 Mexican 50 Pesos Gold Coin (Restrike) - Texas Miner Hoard
Imagine being paid with a heavy fistful of flashy Gold Mexican 50 Pesos at the end of every work day. This sounds like a golden dream come true to the modern stacker or investor. This was more than a wish for a director who served on the board of a prominent Mexican Mining company. At the close of every board meeting, he was presented with pristine Gold Mexican 50 Pesos as the requested compensation for his time. Being an astute mining executive, he knew the long-term value of gold and, upon returning home to Texas, securely stashed the gold coins in his vault. Over the course of decades and countless board meetings, his gold hoard grew larger and larger as a hidden measure of his success until it was passed on to his children. Now, for the first time, this exciting hoard is being made available exclusively to our SD Bullion customer base, certified by NGC as the Texas Miner Hoard.
First struck in 1921 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Mexico’s independence, the stunning 50 Peso design displays a Winged Victory on the obverse, and the Mexican Coat of Arms with an eagle on the reverse. The coin proved immensely popular and was minted for years while being used extensively in international trade. One can see a direct comparison to the famed Saint Gaudens $20 Double Eagle with a similar Liberty/Victory design and a proud Eagle. There is one key difference, gold 50 Pesos are nearly 25% larger and heavier containing an entire quarter ounce more pure gold than a Double Eagle! It’s no wonder our savvy Texas Miner hoarded these beautiful and impressive gold pieces. Now, you have the opportunity to add his carefully preserved masterpieces to your own collection or stack!
Certified by NGC with the exclusive “Texas Hoards” label, these Texas Miner Hoard coins are one of several upcoming hoards of vintage US & World coins that have only recently come to light in the great State of Texas. Don’t miss this opportunity to add this piece of numismatic, mining, and Texas history to your very own collection!

An NGC MS-66 Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company is an independent third-party service that uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to appraise and grade coins according to their condition. The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.
MS stands for mint state. It refers to a coin struck in the same format as a business circulation coin that remained uncirculated. Grade 66 indicates the coin may have contact marks and signs of wear and tear, but it is above average in quality of strike and preserved original mint luster.
