1944-S NGC MS-64 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coin
The US Mint delivered the Walking Liberty coin from 1916 to 1947 to circulate in the US as the official half-dollar coin and meet the internal demand.
This coin was crafted from a silver-copper alloy and imprinted with Adolph A. Weinman’s famous Walking Liberty design, which was reused to stamp the official obverse of U.S. Silver Eagles.
These half-dollar coins, which carry the “S” mint mark, were issued by the San Francisco Mint as part of the 1944 edition.
Today, SD Bullion sells 1944-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coins graded by NGC as MS-64 samples.

The Design
Adolph A. Weinman’s obverse design depicts Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun, enveloped in the American flag. She welcomes new inhabitants of the new world as she holds oak and laurel branches.
The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed above, the motto"IN GOD WE TRUST" is on the lower right, and the minting year is at the bottom.
The reverse features a Bald Eagle standing on a rock with its wings poised for flight, clutching oak branches in its talons. It is engraved with the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR."
The “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint is also present.
An NGC MS-64 Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70 according to their condition.
MS stands for Mint State, referring to coins issued in the same format as a business circulation coin. 64 is the grade given to coins with average luster, noticeable, light scuff marks, or defects but with attractive overall quality.
