The Design
The obverse features Lady Liberty adorned with a coronet inscribed with "LIBERTY," facing left. This image is surrounded by thirteen six-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, with the year of mintage at the bottom.
The reverse displays the Heraldic Eagle with outstretched wings, bearing the national shield on its chest and holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include only the nation’s name and the coin’s face value.
