The Design

As a cast bar, this piece displays a rustic aesthetic. It is rectangularly shaped, with rounded edges, a blank reverse side, and design elements only on the obverse.

The engravings are portrait-oriented and start with the crowned lion, the symbol of the Scottsdale Mint, on top, with the company’s name inscribed beneath it.

The mid-imprint, which covers most of the surface, corresponds to the number fifteen in Roman letters, “XV.” 

The last engravings describe the bar’s weight, metal content, and purity, reading “15 TROY OUNCES 999 FINE SILVER.”
