The Shooting Thaler Coins are Swiss commemorative coins. They were produced in limited editions between 1986 and 1991 to celebrate the free shooting tournaments, or Schützenfest, held in various cantons of Switzerland.

These coins contain 1 oz of 99.9% fine platinum and showcase an iconic design with William Tell, a Swiss folk hero.

These coins display William Tell on the obverse side. In the possible designs, Tell is either depicted in a frontal close-up or holding a crossbow along with his son.

The engravings surrounding his image are in Swiss and read “Einlösbar am Wilhelm Tell – Schiessen Altdorf,” which means Redeemable at William Tell Shooting Altdorf.

The reverse design features the Coat of Arms of Switzerland flanked by edelweiss and oak leaf branches. The images encircling the national public seal correspond to the shields of the Swiss cantons.

It is also accompanied by the coin’s weight, metal content, and fineness description by “OUNCE 1 UNZE” and “PLATINUM FINE .999.”
