The Design

This minted ingot has a squared shape, design elements engraved on both sides, rounded corners, reeded edges, and smooth adorned surfaces.

The obverse displays a young Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Mary Gillick, encircled by the inscriptions “THE QUEEN’S BEASTS” and Jody Clark’s illustrations of the related heraldic figures.

The reverse features the Royal Mint’s shield, the weight, metal content, and purity described as “1 oz 999.9 FINE SILVER,”.

The Queen’s Beasts 

The Queen’s Beasts are ten heraldic creatures that symbolize Queen Elizabeth II's royal ancestry. They first appeared as statues outside Westminster Abbey during her 1953 coronation, representing centuries of English and Scottish royal arms. Many of these mythical figures were inspired by the stone sculptures at Hampton Court Palace, which once showcased the authority of Henry VIII and the House of Tudor.

In 2015, the British Royal Mint brought these legendary beasts back to life in a stunning coin collection featuring gold, silver, and platinum designs. Renowned coin designer Jody Clark reimagined each beast in ten intricate coin designs, ensuring their legacy continues in numismatics.
