The Design

Chief Engraver John Mercanti created the obverse. It showcases the Statue of Liberty in a facial close-up, with the word “LIBERTY” inscribed on top, the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on the lower left, “2023” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” engraved on the right.

The reverse design is a creation of Thomas D. Rogers, displaying a Bald Eagle soaring as the sun rises. The inscriptions read: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “.9995,” “PLATINUM,” “1 oz,” and “$100,” standing for the coin’s origin, purity, metal content, weight, and face value.

A PCGS MS-69 First Strike 

The Sheldon Scale is a standard grading system for numismatic coins, used by most third-party services, like the PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service.

According to their condition, the scale classifies coins from 1 to 70, where 70 represents the highest score.

MS stands for Mint State. Mint State coins are shaped as business coins that have never circulated. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
