The Design

Bullion coins from the Australian Kangaroo Program display the same standard design.

The reverse displays a hopping red kangaroo, a native marsupial inside a peaked circle, resembling Stuart Devlin's Australian Copper Penny. It has been claimed that the Kangaroo was chosen to signify a country moving 'forward' because of a common belief that it can not move backwards.

The coin’s name, “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO,” arches over the animal’s design in a waved circle on the outer rim, while the year of mintage, weight, metal content, and fineness lie on the bottom through the inscriptions “2025 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM.” 

The “P” on the right stands for the Perth Mint mintmark.

The obverse design features once more the effigy of King Charles III. His Majesty’s left-profile bust is surrounded by “CHARLES III,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “100 DOLLARS.”

Anti-counterfeiting Micro-laser engraved letter 

The Perth Mint included a micro-engraved laser letter that was only detectable under a magnifying glass as an extra authentication feature to avoid counterfeiting.
