The Design

The obverse consists of Martin Jennings’ depiction of King Charles III encircled by the inscription “CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·100 POUNDS·2025,” signifying the King’s name, the Latin phrase “By the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith,” the year of mintage, and the coin’s denomination.

On the reverse, a double portrait, designed by artist Bella Biggs, showcases the bust of British King George III facing the effigy of American President George Washington. The image is surrounded by ‘OUR LIVES, OUR FORTUNES AND OUR SACRED HONOR’, a phrase written into the Declaration of Independence.

Because it is a proof coin, it showcases mirror-like surfaces that beautifully contrast with its frosted design elements.
