The Design
The reverse on the coin features the bountiful Tree of Life with sprawling branches and deep exposed roots. As the Truth Series’ name suggests, the design hides a message corresponding to a reading in Scripture. This coin’s message reads “and His worshipers must” and has been micro-engraved onto the lower left branch of the tree. When put together with the other three designs of the 2023 Truth series, they create the Bible verse John 4:24. Below are the coin’s specifications, ““ONE TROY OUNCE,” “.9995 FINE PLATINUM.”
The Tree of Life is an important Biblical metaphor, referring to the tree that Adam and Eve ate from in the Garden of Eden when they first sinned. The metaphor is used again by Jesus to demonstrate how He gives life and how the Church is an extension of Himself as the branches of the tree. Overall, the Tree of Life is a Biblical symbol of God’s power over life and death.
The obverse has been altered from previous releases and now stamps with the Public Seal of Niue, the coin’s backing nation. Niue is a self-governed country associated with New Zealand. Besides the seal’s depiction, the inscriptions read: “250 DOLLARS” and "2023," the year of mintage.
Because it is a reverse-proof coin, its surface has a frosted aspect, while the Tree of Life engraved over is much brighter and shinier. That makes design details more vivid against the matte background.
