The Design

The reverse showcases the sword of truth before a battle shield. As the moniker suggests, the design hides a message corresponding to a part of the Scriptures. In this case, the hidden message is in the sword’s hilt. In 2023, the hidden truth comes from John 4:24, reading: “AND IN TRUTH.” Combine with the other releases from the 2023 Truth Series to reveal a Scripture passage.

And, in a small detail, a snake is pierced on the sword’s tip. The inscription on the shield is in Hebrew lettering “רוח קודש” meaning “Holy Spirit.” A framed belt surrounds the image, and on the bottom, flanking both sides, the inscriptions refer to weight, purity, and metal content through “ONE TROY OUNCE,” “.9995 FINE PLATINUM.” Thorny vines encircle the whole design resembling a crown of thorns.

The obverse has been altered from previous releases and now stamps with the Public Seal of Niue, the coin’s backing nation. Niue is a self-governed country associated with New Zealand. Besides the seal’s depiction, the inscriptions read: “250 DOLLARS” and "2023," the year of mintage.

Because it is a reverse-proof coin, its surface has a frosted aspect, while the images engraved over it are oppositely bright. That makes design details more vivid and perceptible against the matte background.
