The Design

The reverse features a hopping red kangaroo, a native marsupial. The inspiration comes from Stuart Devlin's Australian Copper Penny. 

The coin’s name, “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO,” arches over the animal’s design, while the year of mintage, weight, metal content, and fineness lie on the bottom rim through the inscription “2023 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM.” The “P” on the right stands for the Perth Mint mintmark.

The right profile of the 89-year-old Queen Elizabeth II stamps the obverse side. The image dates back to 2015 and has the signature of artist Jody Clark. On the upper rim, the inscriptions read “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA.” “1 DOLLAR,” standing for the coin’s face value, lies on the bottom.

Anti-counterfeiting Micro-laser engraved letter
