The Design
Jesus Christ is the series’ standard motif and gets a unique portrait in each edition.
In 2023, Jesus is depicted on the obverse of the coins as a teacher, holding a book with his left hand and holding his right hand raised.
The book he holds has the Greek letters Alpha and Omega engraved, referring to Jesus and God in the Book of Revelations.
The reverse features the Coat of Arms of Samoa and the coin’s description of legal tender, mintage, face value, fineness, and weight.
On top, the inscriptions read “SAMOA” and “2023.” On the bottom, “1 TALA”.
“1/2 TROY OUNCE” and “999 FINE SILVER” flank the seal.
The darker tone of the coin and the matte finish emphasize the idea of an ancient piece.
