The Design

The obverse depicts a young crowned Queen Elizabeth II in her fourth official effigy designed by Raphael Maklouf.

The Queen’s depiction is surrounded by inscriptions regarding the coin’s legal tender, face value, year of issuance, weight, purity, and metal content. They read “QUEEN ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE TWO DOLLARS,” “2022”, and “2 OZ 999 FINE SILVER.”

The reverse design created by Gustave Duré showcases Jesus, centralized in the image and in the middle of a sick crowd, touching and healing those who demanded his help while others, standing behind him, watched his deeds. “JESUS HEALING THE SICK” is inscribed at the bottom rim.

The absence of limiting rims in these coins allows the entire usage of the surface to imprint the reverse design. The antique shadow, allied with the dark luster from the proof finish, emphasizes the aspect of ancientness and highlights the most intricate design details.

The Biblical Series

The Biblical Series debuted in 2015, promising a complete series of 60 two-ounce coins. The “Jesus Healing The Sick” corresponds to the 48th strike of the series, which was released in 2022. Each reverse side showcases a famous scene described in the Bible and designed by the renowned French artist Gustave Duré.
