One of the most sought after coin series in the world, American Gold Eagle coins are popular not only here in the United States, but are displayed and collected all throughout the world. In fact, these coins were first introduced in 1986 by the United States Mint and have enjoyed a perpetual increase in popularity ever since.
The coin is .9167 or 22 karat gold alloy which, is alloyed with silver or copper, for more wear-resistance, all sourced from mines in the United States. Moreover, these coins contain exactly ½ troy ounce of Gold, making them a valuable tangible commodity.
The coin features imagery that showcases the nesting of bald eagles, designed by the renowned sculptor Miley Busiek, on its reverse; portraying an adult Eagle clutching an Olive branch, gracefully coming in to land on its nest as a young one looks up toward it.
The front face of the coin, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, showcases the Lady Liberty walking forwards with her hair flowing, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand; the Capitol Building is seen in the backdrop, to her right.
This American Gold Eagle half ounce coin is highly sought after by collectors and precious metal investors. As the value of this coin is governed by the rate of gold, it is a great product to diversify and consolidate your investment portfolio. Additionally, these coins have become one of the most popular precious metal products due to the fact that they have a long history of increasing in value year after year.
