This Werewolf Round is minted by Intaglio Mint using two troy ounces of .999 silver bullion. The Werewolf is a supernatural animal which has been the basis of many tales worldwide throughout history–and thus many nightmares. According to certain stories, Werewolves are individuals who had the ability to morph into wicked, strong wolves. Others describe Werewolves as a mutant wolf-human hybrid. Regardless of what form they take, they are all described as bloodthirsty creatures that can't control their desire to kill humans and animals.
There have been many theories throughout different generations and cultures on how to stop a Werewolf. Rye was often hung on doors to repel Werewolves from getting into a home. The plant wolfsbane was believed to have the power to stop the transformation into a Werewolf. It was believed in the Middle Eastern cultures that a Werewolf could be killed if it was stabbed in the head with a knife. In Germany, they claimed a Werewolf would return to its human form by calling the Werewolf its human name. Only in 1935 was the concept proposed that the only way to kill a Werewolf was to shoot it with a silver bullet. It was first stated in a novel, but over the years people have repeated it so many times, that the silver bullet has become synonymous with Werewolves.
The obverse of these silver rounds features a Werewolf on the edge of a cliff roaring into the night. Behind the creature is a forest, an old English town with stone castles, and a full moon in the sky. Above the animal are the words “THE WEREWOLF”.
The reverse side features the Intaglio Mint logo -- a Romanesque pillar on a sunburst-like background with “INTAGLIO” just above the pillar and “MINT” just below it. Around this is “.999 FINE SILVER” & “TWO TROY OUNCE” imprinted around the edges.
At the lowest premium online over the silver spot price, these Two Ounce Werewolf Silver Rounds from SD Bullion are a great addition to any silver collection.
