The Australian Koala Series is crafted by the Perth Mint and stands out from other coin collections because it comprises silver, gold, and platinum coins of different sizes and finishes.

Another trademark of the Koala Series is providing the Koala with a distinctive depiction at each annual strike. 

Koalas are not found in rainforests or deserts; instead, they inhabit the tall eucalyptus forests and low eucalyptus woodlands of eastern mainland Australia and certain islands off the southern and eastern coasts. 

These Platinum Koalas are proof coins containing 2 Troy oz of 99.95% pure platinum. They have legal tender status through an AUD 500 face value and feature a unique Koala depiction.

Because it is a proof coin, its surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster while the design elements are frosted, making an interesting contrast.
