The Design

This minted ingot has a squared shape, design elements engraved on both sides, rounded corners, reeded edges, and smooth adorned surfaces.

The obverse showcases the historical portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Mary Gillick, encircled by the inscriptions “THE QUEEN’S BEASTS” and Jody Clark’s illustrations of the related heraldic figures.

The reverse displays the Royal Mint’s logo and inscriptions regarding weight, metal content, and purity, reading “10 oz 999.9 FINE SILVER,” followed by a unique serial number.

The Queen’s Beasts

The Queen’s Beasts are a collection of ten heraldic creatures that represent the royal lineage of Queen Elizabeth II. They were first introduced as statues outside Westminster Abbey during her 1953 coronation, symbolizing centuries of English and Scottish royal heritage. Many of these majestic figures draw inspiration from the stone sculptures at Hampton Court Palace, which once embodied the power of Henry VIII and the House of Tudor.

In 2015, The Royal Mint revived these iconic beasts in an impressive coin series, available in gold, silver, and platinum. Acclaimed coin designer Jody Clark reimagined each creature in ten detailed designs, preserving their historical significance in numismatics.
