The Design

The reverse features a hopping red kangaroo within a peaked circle, reminiscent of Stuart Devlin's Australian Copper Penny. 

Additional engravings are on the outer rim. They refer to the coin’s name, “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO,” the year of mintage, weight, metal content, and fineness, reading “Date of Issue 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM.” The “P” on the right stands for the Perth Mint mintmark.

The obverse portrays King Charles III, designed by Dan Thorne, surrounded by “CHARLES III, “AUSTRALIA,” and “100 DOLLARS.”

Anti-counterfeiting Micro-laser engraved letter 

The Perth Mint included an extra authentication feature to avoid counterfeiting, in the form of a micro-engraved laser letter, only detectable under a magnifying glass.
