The Design

The obverse, or front design, illustrates Una and the Lion in motion. Jody Clark created it, inspired by William Wyon's previous same-motif design.

The innovation comes from the landscape-oriented imprint. Una and Lion’s depiction lies over a decorated pattern used as a backdrop, and the engravings “DIRIGE DEUS GRESSUS MEOS,” which translates to “May God direct my steps,” are beneath the image.

The reverse or back side is equally imprinted with the front’s background pattern. It also contains the Royal Mint logo and the bar’s essential hallmarks regarding weight, metal content, and purity, which read “1 oz 999.9 FINE GOLD.”
