2024 ½ oz Samoan Dragon Antique Silver Coin
The Samoan Lunar Series releases the 2024 edition with varied finishes of 2 oz, 1 oz, and ½ oz silver coins.

The motif remains the same. As 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, this mythical creature stamps the reverse design. And, despite being a darker coin, it is made of 99.9 fine silver, following the series’ standards.

The Design
The Samoan National Seal is on the obverse side, along with the coin’s engravings regarding issuance, fineness, metal content, face value, and weight, through “SAMOA,” “2024,” “999 FINE SILVER,” “1 TALA,” and “0.5 TROY OUNCE.”
The reverse design features the Dragon with sharp paws and a twisted tail, the corresponding Chinese symbol, and “2024 YEAR OF THE DRAGON” on the bottom.
Because it is an antique coin, it displays a darker tone of grey, which provides the piece with a matt finish and an ancient aspect.
The Year of the Dragon
The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Calendar and the only mythical creature. Therefore, 2024 is expected to reflect the creature’s good luck and prosperity traits.
The previous Years of the Dragon were 2012, 2000, 1988, and so on, and those born in these years are said to be brave, enthusiastic, and inspired by the figure of the mighty Dragon.
