NGC MS-61 $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin with Motto (Random Year)

Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the Double Eagle was the United States $20 circulating coin from 1907 to 1932.

Considered by many as the most beautiful design within the american coinage, the Double Eagle has .9675 Troy oz of gold bullion content, and it is still a very popular option for coin collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The first two strikes, in 1907 and 1908, did not have the famous American motto “In God We Trust.” It was, however, incorporated only in the middle of 1908.

Now, you can purchase random year $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins from SD Bullion, graded MS-61 by NGC. Mintage will vary from the years 1908 to 1932.

On the obverse side, Saint-Gaudens depicted Lady Liberty, representing the feminine embodiment of the United States, marching forward and holding a torch in her right hand, symbolizing enlightenment. On her left, she carries an olive branch, symbolizing the desire for peace.

The reverse side shows rays of the rising sun with the word "LIBERTY" arched above. The Capitol Building is placed on the lower left, with the mint year on the right.

The reverse features a majestic bald eagle in flight above the sun. The inscriptions on this side include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS." The motto "In God We Trust" is inscribed just above the sun.

A NGC MS-61 Coin

An MS coin indicates a coin that retains its Mint State condition, that is, with its original luster intact. The one it has when it comes out of the mint.

A coin is attributed the Grade 61, despite being still uncirculated, shows a weak or average strike with no trace of wear. It usually has more marks and/or multiple large abrasions.
