The Design
The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II, the beloved former Queen of the British Commonwealth Comunity, in Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait. “ELIZABETH II,” “5 DOLLARS,” “COOK ISLANDS,” and “2023” are the inscriptions encircling Her Majesty’s bust.
The reverse design is a hypothetical portrait of our current society’s reaction to a meteorite impact but in a colored comic book style.
Since it is a proof coin, the blank spaces exhibit a mirror-like luster that emphasizes the colors from the images engraved.
